Arc'teryx Men's Dually Belay Parka

Appropriately named after those long, often chilly, breaks in the action between pitches, the Arc'teryx Dually Belay Parka offers incredible warmth that's highly compressible for easy backcountry transport. Laminated to a DWR saturated shell, two layers of ThermaTek insulation trap heat with amazing efficiency. This continuous filament, hollow core fiber receives an infusion of heat activated DWR during the production process rendering it hydrophobic (water-hating) just like the laminated face. The loft is super resilient so it always bounces back to a toasty state of puffy performance. A two-way WaterTight front zip also guards against discomfort as you watch that black squall march toward your perch on some remote north ridge. Inside the Dually Belay Parka you will find two internal mesh pockets, great for making sure your energy bars remains chewable.

  • Fabrics: highly compressible, continuous filament 2.7 oz. ThermaTek™ insulation with a tough polyester outer face. The outer face is DWR treated and the insulation is hydrophobic
  • Two-way WaterTight front zip with bottom snap closure
  • Helmet compatible storm hood
  • Smooth knit gusseted cuffs
  • Dual hand pockets with laminated zippers
  • Two internal mesh pockets
  • Hip length
  • Stuff sack included
  • Weight: 23.7 oz. (674 grams)

a classy look
TWO layers of Thermatek!! Well, that accounts for all the comments that it is a big parka-- It is big... and really warm. Although I do not like the shiny look normally, the shine looks great on this one, and that's not just my opinion, I keep getting comments on the look and also the cool gold embroidered logo- it looks as expensive as it is. The fit is roomy, not like the usual arc' and it is much more bulky looking than the usual synthetic, but it is soooooo warm that I could believe that there's a big down pillow inside. I haven't taken it below 35 degrees yet, but it is so toasty at that temperature thatI know it is a really competent piece for the deepfreeze. I've had it in the rain, not enough to soak through, but it did repel water quite well.

A Big Coat
I didn't find this jacket so impressive. Sure it was warm, but it didn't have the "Arc'teryx fit" that I'm used too. For example, it didn't have gussetted underarms! Sure it was warm, and very big, but I missed the athletic fit, that Arc'teryx usually has.

very nice jacket.
two things i did not like: could not make up their minds to fleece line BOTH sides of the pocket...just one..pretty lame! 2: pretty shiny outer material. oh well, still a great piece of gear for the climber who wants a back-up to their trusty down jacket for multiple day climbs. not really an around-town jacket, kinda big at shoulders end..looks like shoulder pads underneath. this is the nicest synthetic jacket i have ever purchased..worth every penny when you see what the other companies bring to the table. the quality of craftmanship is 100% arcteryx no doubt!
