Blood and Guts = Good
I love these shorts! Love. Love. Love. It's a shame I had to give them away... Columbia has got some serious inconsistencies in their sizing department. I ordered the small Blood and Guts (having just ordered their Cross On Over Cargo in small) and found that I could pull them down over my hips/butt while zipped and buttoned. [Perhaps this is somewhat due the stretchy panels on the hips.] There are so many cool features on these shorts that I really wanted them to fit - I tried them on at least a half dozen times - but the reality is that they are too big. So I gave them to a friend who will enjoy them.

Had to return but ordered smaller size, the material and overall quality seems very good. Am anxious to wear these and try out the "stain barrier" to fish blood and guts.

Great length and fabric weight
Buy one size smaller, fit with flex tends to be generous. Great length and cut. I exchanged for an XS and I'm usually a 6-8. Going to be one of my faves, I can tell.
