Based on Chris Sharma's climbing expertise and design ideas, the Evolv Pontas Lace-Up Rock Climbing Shoe was developed. An all-around high performance shoe, the Pontas Lace-Up fuses precision, power, and responsiveness in an excellent glove-like fit. The heel fits securely from base of the heel to the achilles without discomfort and deadspace.
Equipped with an extended toe rand that is functional for toe-hooking without feeling excessive and the tri-grooves relieves pressure off the big toe, the Pontas Lace-Up has a 1/2 length semi stiff midsole providing the ideal balance of edging power and responsiveness from toe through the arch.

Great Shoe!
Great overall shoe. I love the cinching ability of the laces - you can really make the shoes form to your feet, which of course allows for great edging. I also appreciate the fact that they will not significantly stretch so that I know what to expect and could purchase the size I wanted. They stick it!

Great edging, trad
I have used the Pontas Lace up for grade V alpine big wall climbs, traditional cragging at the notoriously technical faces of Looking Glass, NC and on the overhanging routes at the Madness Cave in the Red River Gorge. The rubber is sticky, they give a SOLID edging platform, they fit very comfortably, and the rubber on the sides gives good protection in cracks. They are not as sensitive as their velcro counterpart, nor do they perform as well on overhanging terrain. I have made this shoe my first choice for techy trad and cracks.
