A must have!
9,500 ft, 1 mile more to Camp Muir. You've been slogging 3 days worth of gear and food on one of the iceist mtn's in the lower 48. In a span of 5 minutes, visibility goes from 1/4 mile to 1 to 4 feet. The guidebook gave you the coordinates and the eTrex guides you to a nice warm meal amongst your friends at the stone hut. Flashback 15 years to before GPS, and you just hiked off a cliff to be found 3 years later when the glacier spits you out.
