Reviews - Hi-Tec Women's Altitude Glide Waterproof Hiking Boots
Everything you need in a hiking boot
The Hi-Tec Altitude Glide has everything you need in a hiking boot. It's waterproof and made of leather, which wears well keeps out dust and dirt, which is not true of the partial mesh boot style. It is a surprisingly lightweight boot, considering that it is well constructed with a good solid sole and great ankle support. The Altitude Glide is one of the few all leather boots with real metal lace eyelets, which I find are much easier to adjust than the nylon band style. The uppers fit the ankle very well without binding too much and the sizing is suitable for the average to narrow foot. I normally wear women's size 9 and I needed a 9.5 in this boot for some extra room in the toe box. These boots are comfortable right from the start and they should provide very good protection from rocks and streams on long day hikes.
Good but runs small
I had read that this shoe runs a little small, so I ordered a half size larger than I normally wear. The half size larger shoe was still too snug to wear with my light weight hiking socks. It was tight all over, especially across my arches (I have flat feet). However, compared to the Columbia Newton Ridge which was only too tight across the arches but wide in the toes and heel, this shoe should be better another half size larger. Overall, the shoe was not too heavy and I think the break in period should be short.
