Reviews - Keen Men's Springwater II Biking Shoes
I'm Keen on Keens
I started wearing Keens 2 years ago because they have the best toebox to accomodate the arthritis of my great toe joints. I live in my Newport II sandals and Alamosa hikers. When it came to my next pair of cycling shoes, I was looking for one thing - COMFORT! I didn't even know Keen made cycling shoes until I saw them on Altrec website. Knowing the product name, it seemed a logical choice to try them even though I had never put them on in a shop. When they arrived, I was not disappointed. They were as comfortable as my other Keens. I already knew to order them 1/2 size larger than my street shoes. They are heavier than high performance bike shoes, but I don't notice that when clipped into my mountain bike or Cannondale CAADX. They are a little stiffer than traditional Keens, but that is expected from a cycle shoe. When off the bike, they are very comfortable walking around. I am sure they will last forever as do other Keens. Removing the sole plate and attaching the clip is very easy. If it's in the right position, you will not feel a pressure point. I also cover the inner plate with a piece of duct tape. Most important, I can now ride forever without my toes hurting!
These shoes rock!
I'm new to biking and had been looking for shoes that I could afford for months. I have been a huge Keen fan for along time and was blown away that they made a bike shoe. I'm thrilled! They fit perfectly and will continue to recommend them.
Lovin' my Keens
This is my first pair of bike shoes. I commute to work on my mountain bike 10 miles each way and decided it was time to get some shoes to help w/ the hills, efficiency etc. I looked at lots of shoes in stores and online, but you can't go wrong with Keen, so I went with Keen. Other reviews said these tend to run 1/2 size too big - this was NOT true for me. I wear a UK 8, US 9 and so I ordered the 9.5 - but Keens are generally bigger than other shoes and I had a full finger of space between my heal and the back of the shoe. I returned them and got the 9 instead - MUCH better! Installing the cleats was a cinch, it was learning to ride w/ them that took me a while. I like these shoes a lot and would recommend them.
