Once again Keen makes an amazing winter boot. These boots are not only stylish but have a great sole for ice/snow. They are also so warm and cozy for those cold winter days.
Warm, sturdy but hard to put on
Let me say that I am an avid Keen wearer. I must own 6 or more pairs and I reviewed these boots on several sites before making my decision. Here is the good part. The foot bed is the traditional Keen footbed which means they have good support and your feet won't hurt wearing them. I wore them with just a light pair of smart wool socks and they were also incredibly warm. They are sturdy and waterproof. Unfortunately I made the mistake of only trying on the right one out of the box and thought they were Ok so threw the box out. When I went to wear them the first time I had the hardest time getting my left foot into the left shoe. The problem is that the tongue is attached and doesn't offer much flex to get your foot in. I find the portion of the shoe across the top of the instep to be very tight. Worse so for me because I have nerve damage there from a surgery. Since I was stuck with boots I made the best of it and finally got my foot into it. I decided to wear them around the house to see if I could get them to loosen up a bit. I'm happy to report that once on my feet they were pretty comfortable (although still tight across the instep) but did loosen up some a few hours later. I still cannot get them on without a huge fight so this is the biggest drawback. My feet are medium width so if you are narrow might not be a problem for you. I do love Keens and the shoe overall is great it just needs a mechanism to be able to get your foot in easier. I'm not sure but maybe ordering a half size bigger would have helped. I don't think I would buy them again for me because of this issue but I still think they would probably be great for those with narrower feet.
