Incredible Boots
I've been hiking for over 35 years and I've finally found the boots of my dreams!! I'm a huge LOWA fan and craftsmanship and ruggedness of them are uncompromising. I've been in snow, rain, slush, mud, etc. and they still look brand new. Even though they are not like (plastic) mountaineering boots my feet are always hot, I don't need to wear very heavy socks with them, they are like an inferno. But I'm sure they will be okay in the summer with a lighter sock or maybe a silk liner. The height of the boot was my concern but it is necessary with a heavy pack and rocky terrain. Also, the boot liners and foot-beds are wonderful. When I put my feet in the boots they are actually molded to them. Actually my feet like being in the boots!! Although these boot come with a price they are well worth it, they will last you a lifetime!!

Great boots
These boots are an excellent choice for those looking for a sturdy boot for carrying loads over rough terrain. A little bit of break in is necessary, but the design and the quality of leather make them hotspot-free. The lacing hardware permits you to tailor the tension to where one needs the most support, and I have no reason to think that this hardware will fail before the rest of the boots are worn out years from now. (Lowa also has a clever peg integrated into the tongue to keep it centered, which is a nice touch). No one boot will fit all foot shapes, but these fit better than any boot I have used to date.

My choice of boots was relatively narrow because I wear a size 15. I was looking for a slightly higher boot than the "regular" hiking boot that just covers the ankle. I cannot give a road-test report because I have not put a ton of miles on the boots. But they're well-made and fit perfectly and since I normally wear a 15 they seem therefore neither big or small for a 15. I do wear a medium or slightly heavier than medium sock with these boots. Because of their height they are very supportive which is what I was looking for because I am 6'8" and have a high center of gravity--the more support the better. The boots do not rub anywhere despite their height. I'm very much looking forward to hiking in these. Thanks.
