Reviews - Marmot Men's Alpinist Jacket
I've been researching several waterproof breathable jackets for some time. Everything from Arcteryx, Patagonia, Marmot, North Face. I decided on the Marmot Alpinist jacket. I couldn't be more impressed. WOW! The construction is high quality. Every attention to detail has been met. I don't mean to knock any of the others out there but you really get a lot of jacket with the Alpinist. Gortex Proshell is stretchy, waterproof, comfortable. Not hard and crinkly like other Gortex jackets I've owned. The removable powder skirt is nice. I think the biggest selling point of this jacket are all the pockets smartly designed all throughout. 2 good size chest pockets, 2 big hand pockets. Two nice internal pockets. Helmut compatible hood. Everything cinches down nicely. Top brim. Velcro cuffs which you can really snug down around a pair of ski gloves. Finally the pit vents are nice and huge which is great. Waterproof zippers throughout. I went with the "aqua" blue. Still on the fence with the color. Its nice now. Seems like the "in" color these days for jackets. I'm still questioning whether to return it and just go with the black. It is a nice color though. I can see myself getting many years of outdoor adventures with this jacket. Perfect for all round use. I have yet to find a similar jacket with this many features at this price. The angel wing cut is also great. Jacket is long enough to protect me on a chair lift during a cold, sleety New England winter yet can be easily cinched up if I don't want the "drape" look. I'd have to say this jacket is perfect. Fantastic product Marmot and as always excellent customer service from Altrec. I couldnt be happier with my purchase.
Marmot Gore Tex
Ordered this Jacket in a medium. I'm 5'10 and 175 lbs and have an athletic frame (I usually fit in mediums) and found the medium to be on the small side. Ordered the large and things fit much better. The pockets are easily accessible, the inside has several additional storage areas that will hold gloves and goggles when the need arrives. My only complaint would be the pit zips, might be kind of hard to manipulate with gloves on. Marmot makes quality products and I see no reason why this piece wont live up to their reputation.
