Great for cold and cold/wet
Spring skiing in Vermont can include driving rain--the snow is great but hypothermia can creep up on you once you're wet and the top of the mountain is still really cold. These pants can figure it out. Pay attention to fit, though. Marmot is closer fitting than other brands and Chamonix is considered stylish, which I take to mean not gigantic and baggy. I automatically ordered XS (5'1", slim hips) and they were too tight. Small fits well over a base layer. The inseam makes the waistband sit just below the waist, and while the waist is adjustable, that's an awkward place--top of the hip--to adjust it.

These pants are awesome. I bought them for my ski trip and they worked great. They kept me very warm.

stellar pants
these are incredibly comfortable, warm and dry! im a complete weakling in the cold weather, but with these pants and a good pair of long underwear, i have yet to feel cold out in the snow. they definitely fit a little large- i tend to wear 5 or 7 in pants and the medium is way too big for me
