Worth every penny!
I purchased these shoes about two months ago because I needed a lower cut, breathable hiking shoe for a deployment to Afghanistan. So far I have no complaints. I walk at least three miles every day over rocky terrain and have never had a blister or sore feet. There is good shock absorbtion in the heel and plenty of toe room if you have slightly wide feet. I normally wear a size 9 in shoes for 'normal' life but wanted to make sure I had enough room for swelling and thick socks for out here so I bought a 9 1/2 and they fit perfect. The toe bumper is sufficient for keeping jagged rocks from scuffing up the shoe. They are easy to take off and put on. The only issue I've found is that they are not as ventilated as described. I do feel breezes through the shoes every once in a while, but for the most part heat is still trapped so my feet still sweat. I suppose there is no way around that in 100+ degree weather. On the bright side, I have accidently stepped in puddles but never had water seep into the shoes. I would highly recommend this shoe to anyone who would like a durable, comfortable, and roomy hiking shoe.

Best Hiking Shoe Ever
Comfy, durable, and no blisters. I have used this shoe for the last 2 summers hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. They run true to size and require no break in time. My biggest worry - Merrell will stop making them!

Comfy and rugged
I ordered this Merrill Moab and the Keen Shasta at the same time. I have a very long (size 11) and narrow (A) foot, so it usually takes two or three tries until I get the right fit. The Merrill surprised me in feeling great right away. The toebox is a little wide, but it doesn't feel like I'm wearing my brother's shoes. And when I tie it tight enough for my narrow foot, nothing pinches. I sent the Keen back because the sole felt paper thin compared to the Merrill...I mean, the trails in PA are rocky! Downside of the Merrill...I will be adding some kind of arch support insert under the inner pad.
