Really Nice
I have recently purchased these boots so I haven't done serious miles yet with them but I have been breaking them in and have gone on a couple 2 to 3 miles mountain hikes so far. First impression, great boots. I started by wearing them around my neighborhood for 4 walks to break them in (as much as possible on concrete) and I was surprised with how quickly they became comfortable. At first, I was concerned because there was some discomfort in my ankles where the bone sticks out. I was afraid that I might have to return them. I decided to start walking in them with hopes that they are like all my Merrells and will break in. Sure enough, the discomfort is now down to a minimum and was able to enjoy my mountain hikes with no pain. I bought the same pair (Men's) for my father and he had to return them for a size smaller than he usually wears. Mine were a perfect fit. I am always 8.5 with Merrell and these were the same. The only reason for 4 rather than 5, I think the ankle support seems looser than I am used to for a mountain boot but I still believe they will do the job fine. I am just used to a more sturdy ankle area but I have, in times, found in the past that too sturdy can cause me more pain than I care for on the long hauls so maybe this will be perfect. I would recommend anyone trying these boots!

Returned these...too heavy for me
These boots are made very, very well and I love Merrell boots. Unfortunately, they were just too heavy for my petite 5'2" frame. I ended up with another style (Siren) that are lighter and much more comfortable.
