To minimize weight, they applied sonically-welded seams while using waterproof zippers to seal out moisture. In case you wondered, the Kepler Jacket is fully windproof, too. Vapor can escape from the inside, but nothing passes through from the exterior.

Great if you have "Toothpick Arms"
I am a huge Mountain Hardware fan, so I am very disappointed to write this Kepler Jacket is really poorly designed. Essentially there are two major flaws... 1) The arms are way too skinny. I bought an XL and even though I am not packing "Big Guns" even with a t-shirt the fit was inconveniently tight. With a fleece on as well - forget about it. Too tight in the arms! 2) Its too short. I don't want my shirt getting wet when I reach above my head. It will with this jacket as it rides way up and over... Sorry Mountain Designs, but unless you have toothpick arms and bib style rain pants, get some thing else to stay dry in...
