The new PosiLock AT bindings fit a variety of footwear and cinch closed with three adjustable silicone straps over the foot and a fourth around the heel. A Televator heel lift reduces calf fatigue in steep terrain. Under the binding a steel crampon bites into the snow, and 360 teeth on the underside of the frame provides unprecedented traction. Lightning Ascent 30 Snowshoe
Having owned several pairs of metal snowshoes, the MSR Ascent are the best I've seen. Design allows much functionality for a wide range of terrain and snow conditions. Quality construction appears to be unmatched. I especially like their compactness, but large footprint. Only negative would be the price--but, one usually gets what one pays for....

Top of the Line
The MSR Lightning Ascent 30 Snowshoe is everything that I was looking to find. I am a fairly large person (6 foot, 220 pounds + 40 pound pack), and I had no problem staying on top of the snow in the Sierras. The heel bar is quick and convenient, while I have no doubt that the material will last me a lifetime. I am very happy with this purchase and recommend the MSR Lightning Ascents to anyone from the periodic trail hiker to the aspiring mountaineer.
