These are the warmest and toughest winter mitts made by Outdoor Research, and are ideal for any skier, snowboarder and or winter backpacker who refuse to discount the importance of winter hand protection. The outer fabric features waterproof and breathable GORE-TEXPerformance fabric reinforced with tough Pittards Armortan leather across the palm and thumbs. Outdoor Research used Kevlar to stitch the palm reinforcement material into the Alti Mitt for optimal longevity and dependability. PrimaLoft One insulation fills the pre-curve, boxed construction, but you'll find more of it along the back and thumb areas. Thinner Moonlite Pile fleece along the palms helps improve your dexterity. Unlike some snowboarding mitts and gloves, the stretchy "Idiot" Cord at the cuff is removable--which is a nice fuss-free option unless you drop your Alti Mitts from high places.

The Best
These are excellent mitts. The gauntlet's are huge, the outer and inner shell are robust, and the leather palm is made to stand up to real use. Of course they cost quite a bit... but take the cost and divide it by 10 digits... and you can see why I'm wearing them on my upcoming trip to Denali. The Alti-Gloves are great too.

Excellent and warm
This is a very warm mitten. I have used this in the coldest of temps and my hands stayed extremely warm. I would recommend this for high altitude pursuits and/or watching a cold football game in Chicago. Definitely a classic.

Incredible Mitts
I used these mitts on my first climb of Mt Hood in May which was my first venture into mountaineering. I suffer from Raynauld's syndrome and have a tough time keeping my hands warm. I honestly don't think I personally would have made it with lesser mitts. The two layer design is great as it gives options to remove the inner layer when you are too toasty or use glove liners instead. One feature that I LOVE is the pull cords to tighten and loosen. There is no fiddling around trying tighten and loosen the same string on many gloves. It has one string to pull to tighten and a different one to loosen. The dummy strap is very handy as well. I would have lost them in the heavy winds without them during a belay. For most people, these gloves might be considered overkill in many situations but for me they were a life saver. Highly recommend if you tend to have cold hands or going into pretty extreme environments. But again, the two layer system gives them the versatility in various conditions. Highly recommend.
