Reviews - Patagonia Men's Apastron Hoody
Nice, attractive jacket. Good features and seems warm. The hood is a little short, which would be my only complaint.
I wanted a synthetic insulated hoody with a shell for winter here in So. Cal. I'm 6'2 180 and ordered the large which is my typical size. As other reviewers have noted, this jacket is narrow at the hip and shoulders. It fit my athletic build but is not a jacket that will fit over bulky layers. The arms are nice and long which is perfect for me so overall the fit is great for the athletic build. This jacket excels in sub 30 deg. weather as it is designed as an alpine belay jacket. The problem here is that it doesn't have a double zipper which is a curious oversight which I have noticed is the trend these days. The hood is one of the best fitting I've had with nice cynch elastic at the hood and waste. The Gore Windstopper shell is high quality and shed wet snow without issue. I'm curious as to the durability of the material, but it's true benefit is it's breathability and light weight. There are no pit zips but the jacket is intended for cold weather and the breathability is excellent. The slender cut makes it easy to throw a hard shell over without being too restricting. Beware the sizing, but otherwise the Apastron is a high quality alpine jacket that will keep you super warm without added bulk.
