True Soft-Shell Performance
The point of having a "soft shell" is when a "hard shell" is too much. These pants are lightweight, stretchy, and offer excellent weather protection from wind and even water. Except for the deluge, these pants would be the go-to adventure piece. In fact, these are great even during the rain when wearing a waterproof jacket. The DWR functions well especially in this respect. Fit is not tight, but rather athletic. Good room for pockets and you don't feel constrained when you raise your leg or squat. These are lightweight and just plain comfortable whether your are on the go or at base camp. I think the reinforced knee is a very smart feature, as this is one of the first things to wear out when you wear your pants in the backcountry. I think the addition of spandex makes these beyond ordinary with freedom and stretch. These pants were hard to find online and that would make sense, as they are highly function and obviously popular. Inseam seems to be the standard 32ish which works great for me. Price is reasonable as well. Enjoy.

versatile
I purchased these for my husband, and he loves them. He wears them running, cross country skiing, hiking, and in all types of weather. He even wears them around the house. I may have to get him another pair!

Great!
My husband loved these pants- and usually can't wear Patagonia pants because the fit is too tight in the backside :) I bought him the size Large- and he is normally a 33-34 size waist. He loves them and runs in them in the winter. Again, Patagonia ranks high with our family winter wear!
