Ask yourself a few questions first...
I run a lot of hilly and rocky trails, and these are working pretty well for them--they are very strong and protective. I've ran in the XA Pro 3D, and the XT Wings. Comparing them...these XA Pro 5's have more cushion than the XA Pro 3D(and the Mountain Masochist), but not as much as the XT Wings, Montail Continental Divide or Hardrocks. The biggest change is the protective plate...very protective and stiff. So, for my trails and larger body size, they work very well. I would NOT recommend them for any road running. So, are you a bigger runner and running rooty and rocky trails? They're for you.
