I purchased them because of the low set sole and I am pleased.
They are excellent shoes. Very comfortable and light. If you wear them around on a rainy day, be prepared to get damp feet. But though your feet are quickly damp, once out of wet, ones feet dry out very quickly. I have gotten compliments on their styling as well. It is too bad that the shoes are now difficult to find
