Men's Hedgehog III GTX XCR Hiking Shoes
Excellent shoe! It is difficult to find a "gortex" shoe at a good price. Very good fit and well made. The main difference I find to this new hedgehog versus one that I bought a couple of years ago, is that Northface has changed the sole from a sneaker type of a sole (a softer sole) to a more firmer sole. It is designed as a light hiker, although I preferred the softer sole to the newer design.

Stylish hiking shoe
If you're looking for a well made and stylish hiking shoe, this is it. I bought it for a cruise to Alaska and it does a great job of keeping your feet warm and dry. The traction is excellent on uneven surfaces. Be careful about the fit. The shoe is narrow at the toes so I had to order a half size larger than usual.

Great outdoor shoe
My family has plans to travel to Seattle/Mt Rainier in June so Ive been looking for a sturdy (GTX) multi-purpose shoe. I've had my eye on the Hedgehog for quite awhile. While at a local outdoor retailer I tried on a pair and fell in love and almost purchased them on the spot. Fortunately my wife convinced me to check online (they werent cheap). I found the Hedgehog III GTX XCR on sale at Altrec.com and placed the order immediately. Three days later the package arrived as promised. A rare mix of comfort and durability, this shoe quickly became my favorite.
