Reviews - The North Face Men's Meru Gore Jacket
Gore-tex lightweight and comfortable
I've used other north face jacket this jacket but mostly I like to be light. It is very comfortable to use during rainy days. Moves comfortably also resists wind and water repellent too. This last key to this piece.
Good jacket with some disappointments . . .
Male, 5'6", 170 lbs., stocky Bought to use as shell for sking. Worn for six days at Big Sky, MT. Temperature range +22 to -11 F with wind gusts to ~30 MPH. Couple days sun, most days over cast with snow. Very light weight and easily packed. Goretex fabric performed as designed. Very little condensation built up, mostly on top of back area. Very large chest pockets made of mesh fabric. Experienced some air leak/chill in chest area. Self sealing zippers became difficult to operate as temps dropped below ~ 10 degrees. Main zipper is not two way causing me to hike the bottom to sit in chair lift. Alpine fit (aka fitted) became snug on the arms when worn over base layers. Recommmend but after trying on to make sure the alpine cut is right for you.
This jacket exceeded my expectations. It is very light weight, like a rain jacket, and it is able to withstand decent winds without any issue. The material is completely waterproof and the hood has a nice fitting feature. Only downside to the jacket is the zipper is very stiff, which makes the front pop out whenever in a bent-over or sitting position. Definitely glad I got this jacket!
