Almost Perfect Boot
I love the look and features of this boot. Unfortunately after wearing them around the house for a whole day I found that my ankles were taking a beating. The dual-use top cast steel hooks that top off the lacing system pits the metal against my ankles with no padding. I know I have wide feet, 4e, but at 11" I thought my ankles were average. I work for a clothing company in Seattle as a "fit model" and know that bigger sizes have a whole set of different specs, you have to add to more than just the back and front of a shirt. I think with a boot you would add width not only to the footbed but also add diameter to the top of the boot. The width would have been fine but for the steel toe which rubbed my little toes. I wore the boots in the office for a week in hopes that they would break in a bit. The steel hooks continued to be a problem and I had too concede that I would be miserable if I went hiking. In short, increase the cuff size, add some padding behind the hooks, loose the steel toe and I would be one happy camper. The majority of men out there do not suffer from wide feet and to them I say BUY THIS BOOT, you will not be disappointed.
