Great hiking shoe
Waited to review til I had a chance to wear and did so this weekend. I had hiked half dome in a pair of merrells. The latter 1/2 of hike is all downhill. I experienced my toe jamming in to the top of shoe the whole way down. Was tolerable however uncomfortable, ESP after so many miles. I had heard about these shoes and the foot nest and wanted to try them. Hiked flagstaff az and first half of hike is all uphill. This time, on the downhill, my feet felt great. No toes jamming into the shoe. I agree with another comment where user wrote you feel like you should tie shoes tight but actually did not need to cinch shoe tight at all. I plan to return my other shoes and get the trekstra mid rise as well.

Instant comfort and cush
This is the 2d pair of Treksta shoes I have purchased. I learned to size down 1/2 size after trying the mid-high hikers. The Roams are not quite as angled as some of the newer styles but they are built on the same Nestfit last. Unless your second toe is longer than your big toe, this shoe will curve to fit your foot like a glove. This means excellent room for spreading your toes, but no slipping or toe-banging. The interior is extremely well cushioned (I've worn them to work where I'm on my feet 8 plus hours a day). I was worried about stability but the heel cup is deep and pretty rigid. The lacing system is easy and fully adjustable and they actually stay tied without doubling the knot! The insole is highly supportive and cushioned but I do have trouble with one knee from super pronation so I did switch to my smart feet inserts. Not as cushy but it keeps my foot and knee aligned better. I will probably buy another pair just to keep a spare as these are great for walking the dog and just walking around when I don't need my goretex Traksta boots. Altrec was quick to ship and even adjusted my price a couple days later when it dropped.
