General Description

Ward Lake Campground lies atop the Grand Mesa on Forest Road 121 in close proximity to the Grand Mesa Visitor Center. The site stands on the northern shore of Ward Lake and supports boating, hiking and fishing activities. Other facilities at the campground include potable water and toilets. The elevation on Ward Lake Campground is 10,200 feet.

Directions from Cedaredge: Travel 16 miles north on State Road 65 to Forest Road 121. Turn eastward (right) on 121 and drive one mile east to the campground.

Report: Roads in fair condition. Some roads in area very rough but were being worked on. Lots of work beging done in camp ground. New toilets being added.
Conditions: Rained most of week we were there. Muddy and some flooding.
Water Availability: Were told water was not available when we checked at ranger station but when we arrrived at camp site water was available but needed to be boiled before drinking.

Report: the pull up the first part of the grand mesa is a hard one older trucks need to be well tuned for this part of the trip, but after reaching the top the pull levels out and becomes much easier the temp. drops so there is less of a chance of over heating. Once atop the veiws are breath taking the fishing fantastic and the camping great Sighned Jason Mead
