General Description

Horses and motorized vehicles are not permitted. Twin Peaks is a steep and relatively difficult trail climbing directly from the west side of town in Ouray to the top of Twin Peaks. Part of the trail also connects to the Oak Creek Trail to the north. After turning up Oak Creek the trail soon begins a difficult and steep ascent from 3/4 mile up a chute in the mountainside. At 9,250' the trail reaches a flat bench. From this point you may continue north and connect to the Oak Creek Trail or continue up to the peak. An entire day is recommended for the climb. No dependable source of water is available.

Directions from Ouray: Take 7th Avenue west over the bridge and turn left up Oak Street. Take Oak Street to the top of the hill and turn right on Queen Street. The Twin Peaks Trail begins at the intersection of Pinecrest Drive and Queen Street. Follow sings up the driveway onto the trail.
