The southern terminus of the Doctor Park Trail is North Bank Campground. From the campground the trail leads north approximately six miles to Doctor Park Road, 744.2C. This trail is used by motorized trail bikes and very popular with mountain bikers.The trail heads northeast out of the North Bank Campground, beginning at an elevation of 8,400 feet. The trail steadily climbs as it follows Browns Gulch north from the campground. It then veers to the right entering Trail Gulch and continuing to climb. Doctor Park Trail leads between Manganese Peak and an unnamed peak of 11,050 feet before entering Doctor Park. The tread hits a high point of 10,960 feet approximately one mile south of joining Doctor Park Road. After you've traveled on the road for a short distance it forks. The left side of the fork leads to Spring Creek Road within three miles. The right side of the fork leads to the South Matchless Mine.
Directions from Gunnison via the North Bank Campground: Travel north on Highway 135 to Almont. Go north on Taylor River Road six miles to North Bank Campground. The trail leaves from the north end of the campground.
Directions from Gunnison: Travel north on Highway 135 to Almont. Then drive north on Taylor River Road five and a half miles to Spring Creek Road, 744. Turn left and travel nine miles north on Spring Creek Road to Doctor Park Road, 744.2C. Three miles south on Doctor Park Road (bearing to the right) you'll reach Doctor Park Trail. This access can be difficult to find because of the lack of signs.
Directions from Gunnison: Travel north on Highway 135 to Almont. North on Taylor River Road six miles to North Bank Campground. Doctor Park Trail leaves from the north end of the campground.
