This trail begins on Sherman Road west of Sherman townsite. The trailhead is unmarked, but leads south from the intersection of Cottonwood Creek and Cuba Gulch. Within the first half mile the tread lies west of Cuba Creek. The trail takes a direct route to the Continental Divide and areas of high alpine tundra. Popular with horse packers but closed to motorized vehicles.
Directions from Lake City: Take Highway 149 south two miles and turn right on the Cinnamon Pass Road (County Road 30) toward Lake San Cristobal. Continue on the Cinnamon Pass Road to the Sherman townsite fork, taking the left fork (County Road 18X) to Sherman. The trailhead is approximately four miles past the bridge. The trailhead is not signed, but begins in the meadow at the confluence of Cuba Gulch and Snare Creek.
