Tomichi Creek headwaters begin south of Central Mountain on the Continental Divide of the Sawatch Range. The creek flows southwest toward Sargents. From this small community the creek flows westward 35 miles to join the Gunnison River.
The upper half of this creek is split into private and public lands. The first eight miles of stream from Sargents northward are privately owned. Public lands begin at the Snowblind campground and are intermixed with private lands for the rest of the stream length. Rainbow and brook trout are common in the upper fast regions while German brown are the rule in the lower quieter waters. Few of the side streams are large enough to contain fish.
Directions from Gunnison: Drive east on Highway 50 about 34 miles to White Pine Road, Forest Service Road 888. This road parallels Tomichi Creek for 14 miles to its headwaters.
