Conejos Campground has public access to the Conejos River. Ruybalid Trail 855 begins one mile north on Forest Road 250, Notch Trail 729 is nearby. Both day and overnight use is permitted. The facility has 16 sites with tables and fireplaces (firewood is limited). 1 vault type toilets, refuse containers and ample parking. There is a developed water system with 2 hand pumps.

Directions from Antonito, Colorado: Travel 23.0 miles west on Colorado Highway 17 to Forest Road # 250. Follow FR # 250 for 7.0 miles northwest to campground entrance.

Seasonal Information:
Normal Services Available: Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend (NOTE: Campground alternates staying open until November 15 with Spectacle Lake Campground for Big Game Hunting season and Fall color viewing.) .

Report: Road to campground is one of the roughest in the state, only one other camper in campground, no information on fee for paying (stayed for free).
Conditions: Cold, snowed for about 20min, Fishing was good, didn't want to catch any more fish too cold to take them off the hook.
Water Availability: Pumps had handels removed (off season I guess) Toilets smelled horrible.

Report: had a little rain. can build fire in campsite. fishing moderate. river is a little low, but it is really beautiful area. Friendly, helpful host.

Conejos River - The Conejos River provides more than 30 stream miles of high quality wild trout fishing. The Conejos River has more public fishing access along its length than any other major river in Colorado.

Conejos River Road - FR 250 Scenic Drive - Forest Road 250 is a graded dirt road that follows the Conejos River from Highway 17 to Platoro, crosses Stunner Pass, and then descends to the San Luis Valley along the Alamosa River.

Notch Trail - The Notch Trail is a fairly strenuous hike as it climbs steeply out of the Conejos River valley.

Ruybalid Trail - Spectacular views of the Conejos Canyon can be seen from many vantage points along the trail.

Spectacle Lake Campground - Spectacle Lake Campground has 24 sites with picnic tables and fireplaces. There is access to the Conejos River and Spectacle Lake.
