As there is no public access through private property, this trail is not recommended to the general public. Hunters use it during the big game hunting season, otherwise it gets very little use.

Directions from South Fork: Drive 10 1/2 miles west of South Fork on U.S. Highway 160 and turn right at Big Meadows Road. Continue past Big Meadows Reservoir and Shaw Lake. Drive to the end of Forest Development Road 430 . From here on you will need a 4WD on Forest Road 438 to reach the trailhead.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Open: Late May through September .

Trout Creek Trail - The Forest Service planned to relocate this trail around private property. The new trailhead will be near the South Fork community, so the tail will probably get much more use in the future.
