Trail attractions are 6"-8" brookies and cutthroat trout in the lower section of the creek. No mountain lake is reached unless the divide is crossed to Brush Creek Lakes. The trail receives limited maintenance. There is some hunting in the drainage.
Directions from Alamosa, Colorado: Take the Valley View Road (Road GG) east from the junction of Highways 17 and 285, go approximately 8.5 miles. Major Creek Canyon is directly east. A large house sits at the mouth of the canyon, however, a public access route is passable just to the north by staying on BLM land.
