General Description

There is some water available on the trail, but it is not treated for drinking. this is a day use area. Camping and campfires are prohibited. Because of the many south facing slopes in this area the trail is clear of snow and can be used almost year round without much difficulty. This trail is a National Recreation Trail. Horseback riding and viewing wildlife are among the activities to be enjoyed in the area. An interpretive program is available on the trail, discussing the local ecology and environment.

Directions from Loveland: Approximately 12 miles west on Highway 34 and just 3 miles up the Big Thompson Canyon you will see the trailhead on the south side of the road. Look for the Loveland Mountain Park Area and the trailhead.
