Brown's Lake Trail is located west of Fort Collins. It leads from the Crown Point Road to Brown's and Timberline Lakes, about 4 miles from the trailhead, then on to the Beaver Creek Trail. This trail offers good fishing. You can walk on to Timberline Lake, Comanche Reservoir, and Hourglass Reservoir, which are within 2 miles of Brown's Lake. Please note that no motor vehicles are allowed on the trail due to resource damage. Portions of this trail lead through the Comanche Peak Wilderness.
Directions from Fort Collins: Go west out of Fort Collins on Hwy 14 about 30 miles to the Pingree Park Road, (County Road 63E). Go south on the Pingree Park Road approximately 5 miles until you come to the Crown Point Road (Forest Road 139), which forks off to the west. Take the Crown Point Road another 12 miles or so, and the Brown's Lake Trailhead is off to the south side of the road. Brown's Lake Trail also can be reached from the Beaver Creek Trail , 5 miles to the southeast.
