The Slide Lake Trail is a half mile one way. It begins where Slide lake Road (Forest Developed Road 145) ends. It's an easy hike with fair fishing at the lake. The lake lies partially in the Holy Cross Wilderness Area.
Directions from Leadville: Drive approximately 8 miles north of Leadville on Highway 24. Take a left on to Lake County Road 19 (Forest Road 100). Follow Forest Road 100 .9 miles and take the right fork. You will remain on Forest Road 100 for another .7 miles. At the next fork take the road to the left. This is Slide Lake Road (Forest Road 145). Follow Slide Lake Road to the end. That's where the trail begins.
