#1: from Rockdale, Lake Fork of Clear Creek a four-wheel drive vehicle can continue three miles to a road closure at Cloyses Lake. Users can walk the four-wheel drive road to the closure. The path forks east at the road closure then climbs steeply to a glacial basin at approximately 12,000' elevation. Take the fork northeast, climb to the summit ridge, attain ridge at approximately 13,000' elevation. Hike along the ridge to the summit, 14,067'.Please stay on established trails as much as possible, particularly on the descent. From the ridge, hike southeast to Missouri Mountain's summit. The couliors on Missouri's north face should be avoided except when snow covered and by those who are properly experienced and equipped. When descending, please avoid the scree slopes, as rare plants are tenuously existing there.
Directions from Leadville: #1: From Leadville travel south on U.S. highway 24 to Granite, continue 11/2 miles south to clear Creek Road, Forest Road 390, travel west 10 miles to Rockdale. The trailhead provides parking space, but has no restrooms, water or overnight facilities.
Directions from Leadville: #2: From Leadville travel south on U.S. highway 24 to Granite, continue 11/2 miles south to Clear Creek Road, Forest Road 390, travel 8 miles to Vicksburg. Park in the Missouri Gulch trailhead parking.
Directions from Leadville: #3: From Leadville travel south on U.S. highway 24 to Gold Camp Trailer Park. Continue to travel on the dirt road to a road closure/trailhead. (Forest Road 388)
