General Description

McNassar Gulch Road (Forest Road 394) begins on South Fork Lake Creek Road 3.3 miles southwest of Highway 82. It ends after 1.5 miles at a gate to a private road. Beyond this gate hiking is permitted, but not the use of mechanized or motorized vehicles. This is a rough road with a few steep switchbacks. Users will encounter wonderful opportunities for viewing wildflowers in the upper reaches of the valley.

Directions from Twin Lakes: Travel 8 miles west of Twin Lakes Village on Highway 82 to South Fork Lake Creek Road. This is Forest Road 391 and will be on the left or south side of the highway. Follow this four-wheel drive road 3.3 miles to Forest Road 394 on the right side of South Fork Lake Creek Road. This is McNassar Gulch Road.
