General Description

Power Line Trail, #690, follows power lines that run parallel to Rampart Range Road. The trail leads north-south for 7.7 miles from Highway 67 to Cabin Ridge Picnic Ground. This route is a good connector trail, and alternative to riding on Rampart Range Road, for bikes that aren't street legal.

The National Forest Service challenges all off-highway vehicle (OHV) users to TREAD LIGHTLY on public lands. The Tread Lightly program educates and informs forest users on how to enjoy recreation opportunities without damaging resources or negatively affecting others enjoyment of public lands. Potential damage to our natural environment is intensified due to increasing popularity of OHVs. (This category of vehicles includes 4 WD, ATVs, dirt bikes, mountain bikes and snowmobiles.) TREAD LIGHTLY was created to curb damage to soil, water, wildlife, visual and solitude components on the forest. For more information contact any Ranger District Office.

Directions from Sedalia: Northern Access: To reach the northern access point for Power Line Trail drive approximately ten miles west of the small town of Sedalia on Highway 67. The trail begins immediately south of the entrance to Indian Creek Campground.

Directions from Sedalia: Southern Access: Travel approximately ten miles west of Sedalia on Highway 67 to the Rampart Range Road. Turn left (south) on the Rampart Range Road for approximately eight and one-half miles to the Cabin Ridge Picnic Ground. Approximately .25 miles before the road to the picnic ground is a parking lot. Use this for access to Power Line Trail.

Report: The entire Rampart range area is great for OHV use unfortunately it is an EXTREMELY popular riding area, being withing 1 hour of Denver. Trails are often crowded with all trails being bi-directional. Fast riders love Powerline, this of course makes for the possibility of encountering oncoming traffic very likely. STAY ALERT!
