General Description

Fishermen as well as hunters use this trail for its access to the Stoner Creek area. The trail passes through meadows and short spurts of aspen vegetation as it goes down the creek. Game trails in the area might give one pause--continue following the creek.

Just prior to the intersection of the two creeks, the trail drops through an older conifer forest. Where the trail crosses Stoner Creek, remains of a once busy stock bridge can be seen.

Directions from Dolores, Colorado: Proceed north on Colorado State Hwy 145 approximately 19.0 miles. Turn north (left) onto Forest Service Road 545. Continue on this road for 8.0 miles to the Forest Service Road 545 and 547 junction. At this point, take 547 which switchback south before heading north again. The Spring Creek trailhead is found by parking at the end of this road and bushwhacking your way through aspens to the meadow area. The trail parallels the Creek to its' junction with Stoner Creek.
