General Description

Starting from Roaring Fork Road, the trail follows Roaring Fork Creek to the mouth of Roaring Fork Canyon. The trail primarily stays on the east side of the creek, but crosses to the west side for 0.5 mile about 1.0 mile from the start. The trail has been seldom used in recent years, so the tread is faint in spots but can be followed if one is careful. At the mouth of Rough Canyon, the trail crosses to the west side and switch backs up the ridge, once on the ridgetop, the trail follows to the top.

The trail passes through a variety of vegetation, aspen, spruce-fir, and small meadows. Fishing in the creeks should be good. The trail is extremely steep once it leaves the creek and should be avoided if possible when wet. The trail is ideal for foot and horseback travel, motorcycle travel is discouraged due to the primitive condition of the trail.

Directions from Colorado State Hwy 145: The lower end of the Trail begins 1.3 miles up the Roaring Fork Road (County Road #435) from Colorado State Hwy 145. The upper end is located on Hillside Drive (County Road #436) about 12.0 miles from Hwy 145.
