General Description

The Lower Piedra Campground is located on the west bank of the Piedra River. The campground offers 17 large, level sites with plenty of shade. The river is heavily fished, but good catches are still possible.

NOTE: Drinking water is not available at the campground.

Directions from Pagosa Springs, Colorado: Travel west on U.S. Hwy 160 25.0 miles, then turn north on Forest Development Road #621 (Behind Chimney Rock Store) for 1.0 mile.

Normal Services Available: Late May through Labor Day Weekend (NOTE: FEE, TRASH) .

Report: Very well shaded with tall pines. No drinking water. Not too many people know about this campground. River was muddy from rain, but looked like it would be nice fish if it were clearer.
