Directions from Silverton, Colorado: Access 1: Take U.S. Highway 550 north of Silverton approximately 2 miles. Take a left on South Mineral Creek (FDR 585). Go about 2 miles past South Mineral Campground and turn left at the fork in the road. Rico-Silverton Trail begins at the end of the road. Engine Creek Trail breaks from the Rico-Silverton Trail (FDT 507) off to the east about 3 miles up in an alpine saddle.
