Avalanche Family Campground is located south of Carbondale on Avalanche Creek at an elevation of 7,400 ft. This site provides easy access to the Maroon Bells - Snowmass Wilderness and many backcountry recreation opportunities. Thirteen sites are available for trailers under 16 ft. and tents. The road that accesses Avalanche Campground is a dirt road with a small stream crossing. Trailers or large RV's are not recommended. The stay limit for the Avalanche Campground is 14 days. No reservations are accepted for this site.

Directions from Carbondale: Eleven miles south of Carbondale on Highway 133, then 2.5 miles up Avalanche Creek Road (Forest Road 310).

Seasonal Information:
Normal Services Available: Mid-May through Mid-November (NOTE: Fee season is from mid-May to mid-September and includes water, trash collection, vault toilets, and firewood sales. Trailers under 16' accepted.) .

Report: This scenic campground offers the shade of cottonwood trees, sits along the crystal clear waters of Avalanche Creek and is off the beaten track.
Conditions: Shady and sun available. Could get muddy when wet. Several small stream crossings on access road could make access challenging for very low clearance vehicles.
