General Description

Fashoda Campground offers 30 tent sites with facilities that include vault toilets, showers, drinking water, and handicapped features. Its close proximity to Union Valley Reservoir make it popular not only with campers, but also with boaters, swimmers and anglers.

The California Department of Fish and Game plant rainbow trout every other week, May through September, in Union Valley Reservoir. Brown trout, kokanee salmon, and smallmouth bass are also caught. The lake is accessible year-round, however, ice fishing is not recommended due to fluctuating water levels.

Directions from Placerville: Take Highway 50 east, until the junction of Ice House Road. Next travel 14 miles north along Ice House Road. The ground is located on the Peninsula at Union Valley Reservoir in the Crystal Basin.

Report: Fashoda is a great place to camp if you're in a big group. It's not as loud as Folsom Lake, but it is set up for the party type. Great beach!
Conditions: Campsites are all pretty shaded.
Water Availability: The lake is on Union Valley Reservoir and is easily accessible from the campsites.
