Sitting at an elevation of 5,500 feet, Northwind Campground is located in Crystal Basin and provides close access to Ice House Reservoir. Visitors would be able to participate in activities such as boating, fishing, swimming, and scenic viewing. There is a store within 5 miles of the site.
Rainbow, brown, and brook trout are planted by California Department of Fish and Game every other week May through September in Ice House Reservoir. Other fish caught in the lake include brook and lake trout and kokanee salmon. Golden shiners may also be seen. Year-round fishing is available, depending on accessible road conditions.
On site facilities: 10 units for self-contained vehicles, wheelchair accessible vault toilets, tents and picnic tables.
Directions from Pacific: Take Highway 50 east until the junction with Ice House Road. Travel north along Ice House Road for 11.5 miles. The site is located Located on the northeast shore of Ice House Reservoir in the Crystal Basin.
