General Description

French Meadows Campground is located on the south shore of French Meadows Reservoir at an elevation of 5,300 feet. This campground has 75 campsites, potable water, toilets and a boat ramp. Activities include fishing, swimming, boating, picnicking, hiking and viewing scenery.

Directions from Foresthill: Travel Mosquito Ridge Rd. for 36 miles to French Meadows Reservoir area and follow signs to the campground. This campground is located on the south shore.

McGuire Trail - McGuire Trail is 3 and 7/8ths mile long trail at an elevation of 5,290 feet. The trail winds through timber and follows the north shore of French Meadows Reservoir, climbing moderately to the top of Red Star Ridge.

Poppy Campground - Poppy Campground is located on the northwest shore of French Meadows Reservoir at an elevation of 5,300 feet. This campground has 12 campsites. There are no toilets, no drinkable water and no trash removal.

Talbot Campground - Talbot Campground is located five miles above French Meadows Reservoir at an elevation of 5,600 feet. The campground has 5 campsites and is on the Middle Fork of the American River. The Granite Chief area is nearby.
