Big Trees Trail is an excellent opportunity to spend a day seeing and walking through some of the most scenic lands on the Foresthill Ranger District. This loop is ideal for a leisurely day of sightseeing and picnicking.
Placer Big Trees are the northernmost grove of Giant Sequoia, and self-guided interpretive trail will lead you through this special place. The Forest View Trail is a longer loop that takes you through old growth forest. The adjacent picnic area makes a perfect lunch stop.
Directions from Foresthill: Take Mosquito Ridge Rd. to Placer Big Trees Turnoff and turn right. The picnic area and trailhead are .5 miles from this turn.
