There can be drifts for approximately one mile at the beginning of the trail. There are some nice viewpoints along this section. Continuing on, the trail begins to climb to a bald ridge top. From this ridge you can see Jubilee Lake, the Wallowa Mountains to the east and the Walla Walla River to the west and north.
One mile beyond this point you come to Junction 12 where there is a trail that goes east and ties into the Jubilee Lake Trail. If you continue on the Skyline Trail heading north, you will continue to climb until you reach the Bone Springs Area (junction 13). Trails, which are only groomed as needed take off from this junction. These trails are the Tiger Canyon trail to the north, and Timothy Springs and Lookout Mountain trails to the east.
All snowmobile trails on the Walla Walla Ranger District are groomed and maintained by the Oregon State Snowmobile Association. They are marked with an orange diamond. With the Tollgate Work as a starting point, the orange diamonds are on the right side of the trail going away from the work center, and returning the diamonds are on the left side of the trail. Junction signs, which include directions and mileage, are located at most trail intersections.
Directions from Weston: Travel 20 miles east on Highway 204, parking is available at the Tollgate Sno-Park.
