General Description

Dome Rock Trail #3381 is a difficult 1.5 mile hike at an elevation of 4,859 feet. This trail leads to Dome Rock, a former lookout site.

Directions from Detroit: Travel west on Hwy. #22 for and turn onto Road #2233 (French Creek Road.) Continue for 7.7 miles and the trailhead is just before the intersection with Road #520. It climbs the cutback on the south side of Road #2233. Travel on Tumble Ridge Trail to access this trail

Report: Awesome trail! Well maintained. Lots of places to take a short break. Trail in mostly smooth, no exposed roots to speak of. A couple of minor washed out spots.
Conditions: Mud in some spots as it was raining. Snow at higher elevations, not bad. Rocky spots on occasion, mainly watch your step and enjoy the experience
Water Availability: I took 3 pint bottles of water, was plenty for me. Would carry more is necessary, especially during hot weather
Recommended Clothing: I wore a warm jacket, light gloves. Carried camera, GPS and backpack. Travel light if possible.
Suggested Accessories: I took fishing pole just in case could make it to Tumble lake, not this time. Had headlamp in backpack just in case

Tumble Lake Trail - Tumble Lake Trail #3379 is a difficult 1.5 miles hike at an elevation of 3,650 feet. Tumble Lake is 20 acres in size and 18 feet deep.

Tumble Ridge Trail - Tumble Ridge Trail #3380 is a moderate 5.3 mile hike at an elevation of 1,600 feet. This trail is steady uphill climb to Tumble Ridge and passes through second growth Douglas-fir and some old growth forest.
