General Description

Patjens Lake Loop Trail #3395 is a moderate 5.5 mile trail at an elevation of 4,400 feet. This trail offers a rare opportunity to ride or hike a loop in the Mount Washington Wilderness in one day. Located in a high elevation ecosystem, the trail passes through a mixed forest of lodgepole pine, western hemlock, and alpine fur. Three small lakes are easily accessed from the trail.

Directions from McKenzie Bridge: Travel east on Hwy. #126 for about 24 miles to Hwy. #20. Continue on Hwy. #20 about 7 miles and turn on Road #2690 (Hoodoo turnoff.) Drive about 4 miles to Patjens Lake Trailhead, at the west end of Big Lake.
