This cabin will be closed from 5/1/03 to 8/30/03 due to reconstruction. Access by floatplane or canoe or portage. This cabin is in a designated Wilderness area, and access by helicopter is illegal. This cabin is located on the northern shore of Distin Lake. The cabin is primitive, with no electricity, plumbing, or phone. A small A-frame with a loft, it can sleep up to five people. Cabin is equipped with wooden bunks, table and benches, is heated with a wood stove and has an outside toilet. It does not have mattresses or cooking utensils. Cabin users should bring their own sleeping bags, pads, cook stoves, cooking gear and food. Bring personal flotation devices for the boat at the cabin. The person holding the reservation must be 18,and must be a member of the using the cabin.Use of this cabin by a commercial operator, such as an outfitter or guide, is NOT allowed. There are NO discounts for Golden Age/Passports for Alaska cabin rentals. Reservations are restricted to a maximum stay of 7 consecutive nights per party for any one reservation May 1-September 30 and a maximum stay of 10 consecutive nights per party Oct 1-April 30.
You may reserve this cabin on the day of arrival, or up to 180 days in advance. Treat or boil water before consumption In the fall, winter and early spring, the lake may be frozen and inaccessible. Please contact Admiralty National Monument prior to making reservations during these periods. Occasionally poor weather can result in extended stays, and cabin users should be prepared for this.
